Addicted to Porn … Food Porn…

Tasty on Facebook, recipes on Pinterest, the odd and unusual items in my pantry and the baking bug that hits me at least once a week – yup!  It’s official …I am  addicted to healthy, unusually combined odd food.  Not the normal run of the mill North American meat and potato variety.  Rather,  I love unusual, deliciously rare and healthy foods – and I also lean a little to the exciting, kinky side of food prep.

Take today for example.  I found a new recipe online – brownies.  Who doesn’t love sweet, luscious creamy chocolatey brownies?  And the ingredients are a subtle blend of all that is good for you without letting my meat and potato fans know they are eating dates, walnuts and avocados in their dessert!  🙂

I think maybe the variety of flavors  are what intrigue me the most, and I go to great lengths to satisfy fussy palates in a healthy way.  I love the idea of combining walnuts, dates, coconut oil and cocoa to make a brownie base and then avocado, honey, vanilla, and more cocoa for the creamy icing.  No baking, just pat base into a lined pan, cover with the creamy, chocolatey, finger-licking good topping, Chill for an hour or so and Voila!  Brownies you can serve anyone, anywhere snickering to yourself, hoping they will leave you some.  After all, your addiction is creating such fun for you and such delightful, delicious desserts for them.

So, do you have picky eaters in your home?  Do you wish they would eat foods you know will be good for their growing bodies and healthy strong minds?  Do you like to have fun hiding delightful nutrition and watching them gobble it up?  Or has it gotten tedious, every mealtime a chore of looking for recipes only to see them turn their noses up time and time again?

Let me give you a hint how I handle the picky palates.  I make exciting interesting foods that don’t stray too far from something I know they like – brownies are a good example.  I look carefully at the ingredients to be sure I love them all. Then, I am always excited in the process of creating them because I really look forward to tasting the end result.  It isn’t even about the picky palates any more,  in the end it is more about me.  I love making the healthy delicious food, I love eating the healthy delicious food, and I appreciate the time I take to do so.  Not for them… but for me.  But I will share… if they want.  Yup! Addicted.

So get excited, do what you love;  and you will be amazed how well you automatically end up sharing joy with others, inspiring them towards better self care too.

until next time….
